RAISING THE BAR ON DURABILITY: THE DETROIT DT12 VOCATIONAL SERIES

Large, robust gears for tough jobs. The DT12-V and DT12-VX feature large, robust gears that allow for increased gross combination weight (GCW) and input torque. Thousands of hours of rigorous testing have made the DT12-V and DT12-X transmissions purpose-built to take on rugged environments.
An improved oil system design. A new oil pump provides a more continuous flow of oil at all speeds and operating conditions. Its bottom-mounted oil intake also allows oil to be picked up at the lowest level and sprayed onto the gear mesh, ensuring ample lubrication in tough conditions—and less parasitic loss due to oil splash.
Enhanced thermal management for greater reliability. The oil cooler’s adaptive bypass valve maintains oil at an optimal temperature for any running application. This cools oil when it’s needed and bypasses when it’s not.
Bottom PTO capability for increased application coverage. In addition to rear power take-off (PTO), the Bottom PTO capability of the DT12 Vocational Series transmissions provides flexibility and dependable performance for any industry, from heavy haul to logging, construction, farming, mining and oil. Dual PTO usage (bottom and rear) opens up even more ways to work.

NEW VOCATIONAL FEATURES: OPTIMIZED FOR EXTREME

Performance on demand.

Off-Road Mode features shift maps that give you peak performance on any terrain.
Rock-Free Mode helps you avoid wheel-stuck situations by using the accelerator to rock the vehicle free.
Paver Mode allows a dump truck to shift from neutral to drive without pressing the brake pedal while moving away, ensuring a steady flow to the paving machine.
Power Launch automatically increases engine speed for smooth, powerful take-offs with heavy loads – all while protecting the clutch and driveline.
Hill Start Aid (HSA) feature prevents rollback for up to 3 seconds when transitioning from a standstill to acceleration on a grade of 3% or more. The ABS module holds and modulates brake pressure after the driver has released their foot from the brake pedal, preventing the truck from rolling backwards for 3 seconds. This feature provides added safety and increases driver confidence.

A superior power launch option.

The Power Launch feature automatically increases engine speed to 1,200 RPM to ensure smooth, powerful take-offs with heavy loads—all while protecting the clutch and driveline.

AMT: POWER MEETS SIMPLICITY

As automated manual transmissions (AMT), the DT12-V and DT12-VX combine the benefits of manual and automatic designs. With computer-controlled shifting and clutch engagement, only two pedals are needed to operate the truck: the brake and accelerator.
