LOUISVILLE, Ky., – (March 26, 2014) – Western Star Truck Sales, Inc. today announced that the Detroit™ Virtual Technician™ onboard diagnostic system is now standard on 2014 Western Star 4700, 4800 and 4900 truck models equipped with Detroit GHG14 and newer engines.

Virtual Technician’s advanced and detailed diagnostics prevent unnecessary downtime at eight out of 10 fault events through its instant assessments. Virtual Technician is the industry’s only diagnostic system that captures vehicle data before, during and after a fault event to provide a more accurate diagnosis and generate uptime. Because the severity of the check engine light incident is immediately relayed to the Detroit Customer Support Center for diagnosis and a service recommendation, Western Star drivers and fleet managers will have peace of mind knowing they are making informed decisions while on the job.

“Western Star drivers are often in the middle of tough jobs and when the check engine light comes on, it can have an immediate impact on uptime because it’s sometimes difficult to assess the immediacy of the service need,” said Ann Demitruk, director, marketing for Western Star. “Western Star customers demand the highest level of quality from their trucks and engines, and Virtual Technician is a premium offering that will help keep our customers on the job -- and making money.”

Developed in collaboration with Zonar Systems, the award-winning Virtual Technician technology has already benefitted more than 70,000 trucks.

With more than 800 authorized locations in the United States and Canada, the Customer Service network provides immediate, 24/7 access to maintenance information, state-of-the-art service and factory-trained technicians.
