Detroit Diesel Corporation Selects Johnson Matthey Technology for Retrofit Program

DETROIT, Michigan – In an effort to continue supporting municipal and transit bus customers all over the country, Detroit Diesel Corporation has selected Johnson Matthey as the supplier of diesel particulate filters for a retrofit program that was initiated in late 2004 on the company’s Series 50 engine.

Under terms of the agreement, Johnson Matthey will supply its coating technology for the diesel particulate filters on the Series 50 heavy-duty diesel engine as part of a retrofit program initiated by the Environmental Protection Agency and Detroit Diesel Corporation. The program was developed and launched due to performance issues with the original production diesel particulate filter in the Series 50 engine. The retrofit program will cover all Series 50 engines manufactured by Detroit Diesel starting in October 2002 through the end of production of the Series 50 engine on April 19, 2005.
