- Engineered to offer less complexity and more durability in many of its key components, the DD13 achieves an even higher standard of reliability.
Longer maintenance intervals.
- The new Detroit^® Aftertreatment System does more with less. This new ATS features a single, larger Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) with Asymmetric Cell Technology for increased service intervals and 60-pound weight savings in a smaller housing. The new ATS works hand in hand with the Detroit heavy-duty platform of engines through techniques such as Asymmetric Injection and Auto-Elevate to ensure optimal temperatures, leading to fewer regens. When paired with the Detroit Vocational or On-Highway Series of DT12^® transmissions, the engine can also ThermoCoast, keeping temperatures up during low load driving.
Better combustion for better fuel economy.
- Ultra-high compression ratios combined with a new swirl piston design and a new, 10-pin injector create better combustion, reduce ash production, and improve fuel economy by up to 4% compared to previous models.
