DETROIT ASSURANCE WITH ABA 5 OPTIONAL FEATURES

It pays to have a well-run fleet. But it pays even more to have technology that keeps every mile safer and more comfortable for drivers. Detroit Assurance® with Active Brake Assist 5 is purpose-built to take your operations to the next level with optional, cutting-edge features that can impact your bottom line right away.

WHAT IS ACTIVE SPEED INTERVENTION?

Active Speed Intervention (ASI) is an industry-first technology that’s engineered to help drivers avoid speeding as well as help new drivers adopt safe driving practices. Coming in January 2022, this feature is designed to work with Traffic Sign Display to automatically issue a passive alert when the driver exceeds the speed limit, followed by an active warning and de-throttling, if necessary. The pre-warning and warnings progress as follows:

  • If truck is less than 1 mph over speed limit, no pre-warning will be displayed
  • If truck is between 1 and 6 mph over the speed limit, the in-dash speed limit will glow red
  • If truck is 6 mph or more over the speed limit for 5 seconds, a blue warning sign will appear
  • Following the pre-warning and warning, after 10 additional seconds of speeding more than 10 mph over the speed limit, the warning sign turns red and the truck is de-throttled for 2 seconds

WHAT IS ACTIVE LANE ASSIST?

Utilizing the forward-facing camera system, optional Active Lane Assist (ALA) features can help drivers stay safer and more comfortable on the road. ALA features come with steer assist, which reduces road vibrations, improves maneuverability when the driver aggressively turns the wheel at low speeds, and increases ease-of-steering through micro-adjustments, which can be helpful in crosswinds and tire blowouts.

  • Lane Departure Protection (LDP) can be added to Active Lane Assist to detect when the truck is drifting out of its lane and actively steer it back on course. This feature can be disabled when traveling in areas where lane markers aren’t clear, such as construction zones.
  • Lane Keep Assist (LKA) is enabled while using Adaptive Cruise Control. It uses the forward-facing camera system and micro-steering movements to keep the truck centered in its lane. Lane Keep Assist can be disabled in areas where lane markers are unclear.
  • New for 2022, Lane Keep Assist with Auto Stop expands on the Lane Keep Assist feature by protecting the driver and surrounding vehicles if the driver becomes incapacitated. It utilizes various levels of passive alerts to remind the driver to keep their hands on the wheel. If the driver fails to respond after 60 seconds, this feature disengages Adaptive Cruise Control and slowly brings the truck to a stop.

WHAT IS SIDE GUARD ASSIST?

Side Guard Assist (SGA) improves safety by alerting the driver to objects* in the truck’s passenger-side blind spot. As a passive collision mitigation system, SGA won’t de-throttle or stop your truck. Instead, it keeps the driver in control. If the truck’s passenger side gets too close to a moving person or object, the system will warn the driver not to complete the right turn or make a right-hand lane change.

FORWARD-FACING VIDEO CAPTURE*

Forward-facing video capture provides better insight into what occurs during crashes so they’re easier to prevent in the future. This safety feature utilizes the front-facing HD camera to record the truck’s activity on the road before, during and after severe traffic events.

DETROIT ASSURANCE DRIVER-FACING CAMERA*

The Detroit Assurance driver-facing camera can also capture footage of the driver during a collision. A total of 20 to 30 seconds of video from before, during and after the traffic event – along with other vehicle parameter data – is transmitted via a web portal to give fleet operations and safety personnel greater insight into the driver’s reactions.
