DETROIT ASSURANCE WITH ABA5 SUITE OF SAFETY SYSTEMS

THE ULTIMATE IN SAFETY AND DRIVER COMFORT ON THE ROAD AND ON THE JOB SITE

Customers count on your fleet to deliver. The Detroit Assurance® Suite of Safety Systems is designed to help you do just that – and more. Get ready for next-level driver comfort and the latest in automated safety with our collision mitigation system for trucks.

ACTIVE BRAKE ASSIST 5

Active Brake Assist (ABA5) mitigates potential collisions by calculating truck speed and distance to other vehicles. This determines if a warning or braking action is needed.

  • Full Braking on Moving Pedestrian can detect a person who is about to walk into the truck’s path. It issues audio and visual warnings with simultaneous partial braking first, followed by full braking if the driver does not react.
  • Full Braking on Moving and Stationary Vehicles can identify moving or stationary vehicles in the truck’s path. When the system detects a potential obstacle, it issues audio and visual warnings. Depending on the situation, partial and full braking may activate as well.

SIDE GUARD ASSIST

Side Guard Assist (SGA) alerts drivers of objects in their passenger-side blind spots. As a passive collision mitigation system, SGA won’t de-throttle or stop your vehicle. Instead, it keeps the driver in control. If the truck’s passenger side gets too close to a moving person or object, the system will warn the driver not to complete the right turn or make a right-hand lane change.

ACTIVE SIDE GUARD ASSIST

Active Side Guard Assist (ASGA) takes safety a step further. This industry-first technology engages at urban speeds (less than 12 mph) activating brakes to help prevent a truck from making a right turn into a moving cyclist or pedestrian.

ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) automatically adjusts a truck’s cruising speed to maintain a safe following distance from other vehicles, down to 0 MPH when equipped with a Detroit engine and transmission. With the ability to remain in cruise control longer, drivers experience less fatigue throughout the day, keeping them more alert.

ACC works in stop-and-go traffic, too. When the vehicle in front of the truck begins to slow, even to a stop, the truck will stop and hold its brakes. If the stop is less than two seconds, the truck will start moving again once the vehicle in front moves. For stops longer than two seconds, the driver can easily resume motion by engaging the throttle or pushing set/resume.

For vehicles with third party powertrains, ACC can decelerate as low as 10 MPH.

ACTIVE LANE ASSIST

With the help of fused camera and radar technology, Active Lane Assist (ALA) keeps drivers safe and comfortable on the road. ALA features improve low-speed maneuverability, reduce road vibrations and increase ease of steering via micro-adjustments.

  • Lane Keep Assist (LKA) identifies lane markers and helps the driver keep their vehicle centered in its lane.
  • Lane Departure Protection (LDP) detects when the truck is drifting out of its lane and actively steers it back on course.
  • Lane Keep Assist with Attentive Driver Protection System helps protect the driver and surrounding traffic in the unlikely event that the driver becomes incapacitated. The technology will actively bring the truck to a stop while keeping it in its lane.

Tailgate Warning

Tailgate Warning alerts a driver when they follow another vehicle too closely while traveling over 20 mph – and can even report these events via Detroit Connect® to help improve driver training.

Lane Departure Warning

Even the most experienced drivers can get distracted on the way to the job site. Lane Departure Warning helps keep an eye on the road so your vehicles can travel the open road safely. It alerts the driver with a rumble sound and dash warning if their truck veers from its lane without signaling.

Traffic Sign Display

Drive as smart as you work with Traffic Sign Display. This convenient, optional feature utilizes the Detroit Assurance proprietary HD camera to automatically read up to two traffic signs in real time and display relevant sign information, such as the speed limit, in the dash.

Active Speed Intervention

Active Speed Intervention (ASI) is an optional, industry-first technology that’s designed to deter drivers from speeding and to help new drivers adopt safe driving practices. This feature works with Traffic Sign Display to issue a passive alert when the driver exceeds the speed limit. If the driver does not respond, ASI will issue an active warning, and if necessary, will cancel Adaptive Cruise Control or de-throttle the truck.

Brake Hold Mode

Brake Hold Mode improves safety and comfort wherever work happens. Once activated, this feature keeps the truck stopped when the driver removes their foot from the brake pedal, or if their foot slips off while the truck is at rest.

Automatic Headlights/Wipers

Keeping a clear view of the job site is easy with Automatic Headlights and Wipers that turn on and off when visibility or weather changes.

Intelligent High-Beams

The Intelligent High-Beams feature automatically disengages high-beam headlights when the camera detects tail lights, headlights or city lights – and turns them back on once these light sources are no longer visible.

Forward- and Driver-Facing Video Capture

If an accident does occur, Detroit Assurance has you covered, too. You can set the system to automatically take a 20-30 second snapshot of both truck and driver activity during a severe traffic event and have it automatically loaded to a web portal for review.
